In theory, I love doom metal, in practice, I find that the genre has some of the most regurgitated, lazy and generic music known to this blue planet. Dogmatic and repititious levels that even surprass Dis-clones, where the name of the game is to ripoff the one and only, Discharge in as many ways as possible. Bands just take 1/3 of a Sabbath riff and just repeat it over and over again for about 45 minutes through expensive amps and then call it a day. TEETH OF THE HYDRA is a doom metal band, but make no mistake, they are NOT that type of doom metal band. This band was heavy, sludgy, intense, powerful and creative, drawing from a large pool of influences, from High On Fire, Darkthrone, Amebix, Voivod, Celtic Frost, Hellhammer, Pentagram, Black Sabbath to Saint Vitus. If you're into doom metal at all, you need to give this under-appreciated record a try.
